Bonnie Gale (Jr., Anchorage, Alaska / South Anchorage) scored twice and Ellen Palmquist (Sr., Fort Collins, Colo. / Poudre) turned away five shots on goal, and Macalester went on to gain a 3-1 non-conference decision at Wartburg (Ia.).  The Scots extend their winning streak to three and on the season have improved to 6-3-1.  They top Wartburg by a pair of goals for the second year in a row.

Wartburg scored the first goal of the match in the seventh minute and held its slim 1-0 margin until Gale scored the first of her two goals on a Georgia Cloepfil (Sr., Portland, Ore. / Lincoln) in the 60th minute.  Lily Jilk made it 2-1 at 77:00 by converting a Margaret Nemetz (Jr., Ann Arbor, Mich. / Pioneer) assist and Gale netted her fifth of the year to make it 3-1 in the closing seconds of regulation.

The Scots led 14-9 in shots and 10-8 in corner kick tries.  Mac's Palmqust made five saves in net for the Scots to gain her fourth goalkeeping victory.

Macalester returns to MIAC competition Saturday (Oct. 12) when it plays St. Olaf in Northfield.  After that, the Scots play their next three at home.
