Macalester moved up in the MIAC standings by handing St. Benedict its first defeat of the season, scoring in the first minute of the second half and holding off the Blazers for a 1-0 win in St. Joseph.  The rainy day featured a 56-minute first half delay due to lightning.

The Scots even their MIAC record at 2-2 and are now 4-3-1 overall.  The Blazers drop to 7-1-1 overall, 3-1 in MIAC play.

After being out-shot 13-8 in the opening half, the Scots struck first, getting a goal from Bonnie Gale (Jr., Anchorage, Alaska / South Anchorage) on an assisting pass from Georgia Cloepfil (Sr., Portland, Ore. / Lincoln).  For Gale, it was her third goal of the season.

Ellen Palmquist (Sr., Fort Collins, Colo. / Poudre)  posted three saves to pick up the team's second shutout of the season.

The Scots look to move over .500 in league play when they host Bethel on Saturday (Oct. 5) at 1 p.m.
