Macalester extended its winning streak to four by receiving goals from three different players to beat St. Olaf 3-1 in an MIAC match Saturday in Northfield. The Scots improve to 7-3-1 overall and 4-2 in the MIAC. St. Olaf, also tied for fourth with a 4-2 league mark, is 6-5-1 on the season.
The Scots, who have out-scored their opponents 9-2 during their four-game streak, fell behind early when the Oles scored in the 21st minute for a 1-0 lead.
Lydia Chodosh (So., Los Angeles, Calif. / Culver City) scored off a corner kick from an
Ellen Brady (Jr., St. Paul, Minn. / De La Salle) pass to equalize the match in the 33rd minute.
Macalester took the halftime lead when
Bonnie Gale (Jr., Anchorage, Alaska / South Anchorage) netted her sixth of the year on a
Maggie Molter (Sr., Cedarburg, Wis.) assist at 40:21. With just over three minutes left in the second half,
Georgia Cloepfil (Sr., Portland, Ore. / Lincoln) increased her team-leading scoring total when she netted her eighth of the season.
The Scots led 15-8 in shots, 7-5 in shots on goal and received four saves from
Ellen Palmquist (Sr., Fort Collins, Colo. / Poudre), who lowered her goals against average to 1.15.
Macalester's next three matches are at home, starting with an MIAC contest Tuesday (Oct. 15) with Carleton at 7 p.m.
