Playing short-handed for all but the first 10 minutes due to a red card, Macalester gave Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference stronghold Loras (Ia.) a good game before the Duhawks opened things up in the second half to gain a 4-1 victory over the Scots Sunday afternoon in St. Paul.

Loras converted its penalty kick after Mac's red card on a breakaway in the 11th minute, but had to settle for a 1-1 halftime tie after Georgia Cloepfil (Jr., Portland, Ore. / Lincoln) blasted in a long free kick from about 30 yards at the 21:23 mark.

In the second half, however, the Duhawks out-shot Macalester 10-6 and tallied goals in the 50th, 63rd and 75th minutes.

Loras improves to 5-3, while Macalester drops to 3-3.

Next up for the Scots is an MIAC match Wednesday (Sept. 19) at home against Augsburg at 7:30 p.m.
