Box Score Macalester vs. St. Scholastica statistics

St. Scholastica scored twice on corner kicks to go up 2-0 early in the second half, and held off a Macalester comeback to win 2-1 in the season opener for both teams in Duluth.

The Scots out-shot the Saints 20-8 and 14-3 in tries on net, but the CSS goalkeeper turned away 13 shots on goal as the Saints held on.

Margaret Nemetz (So., Ann Arbor, Mich. / Pioneer) tallied Macalester's first goal of the season to cut the CSS lead in half, scoring on a Georgia Cloepfil (Jr., Portland, Ore. / Lincoln) pass in the 57th minute.  Cloepfil provided four shots on goal for the Scots, while Ingrid Greene (So., Madison, Wis. / Memorial) and Bonnie Gale (So., Anchorage, Alaska / South Anchorage) were turned away three times apiece.

The Scots return to action in the St. Scholastica Advantage Emblem Cup Saturday when they take on Wisconsin-Whitewater in Duluth at 3 p.m.
