After dropping their three matches Saturday, the Scots bounced back by winning both their games Sunday to wind up at 2-3 at the CWPA Regional tournament.
On Saturday in Washington, Pa., Macalester lost to Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) 9-8, Wheaton (Ill.) 9-6 and Grove City (Pa.) 19-9. In Sunday's matches in Pittsburgh, the Scots topped Carthage (Wis.) 6-5 and Chatham (Pa.) 11-6.
Macalester's top scorers for the five games were
Catherine Flint (Sr., Palo Alto, Calif. / Henry Gunn) with 14 goals,
Adrienne Burgin (Fy., Walnut Creek, Calif. / Acalanes) and
Sarah Shoemaker (Fy., Saratoga, Calif. / St. Francis) with six goals apiece, and
Anya Phillips (Fy., Geneva, Fla. / Oviedo) and
Chloe Kaulas (So., Chicago, Ill. / Latin School) with five each.
Goalkeepers Kaulas (51 saves) and Phillips (27) combined for 78 saves.
In Macalester's one-goal win over Carthage, Burgin had two goals, an assist, two steals and three ejections drawn. Phillips scored twice and assisted on three other scores. Flint netted six goals to lead the Scots in the victory over Chatham and Burgin had four assists and four ejections earned.
