Box Score
Concordia kept its grip on first place in the MIAC standings, punching in a late goal to hold off the Scots 2-1 in St. Paul. The Cobbers extend their winning streak over Macalester to eight and are now 5-1 in the league.
After the Cobbers took charge by scoring in the eighth minute off a long crossing pass, Macalester neutralized the match when
Georgia Cloepfil (Jr., Portland, Ore. / Lincoln) crossed a pass from the left side to an in-close
Hannah Walker (So., Falls Church, Va. / George Mason), who netted her third goal of the season at 16:19. Cloepfil has either scored or assisted on eight of her team's last 11 goals over Macalester's past six matches.
That was all the scoring until 85:37 when Concordia broke the deadlock on a goal by Gina Weiss.
The Cobbers owned a 19-13 advantage in shots and 8-3 margin in corner kicks. The goalkeepers for both sides were asked to make just three saves.
The Scots, now 5-5-1 on the season and 2-3-1 in the MIAC, play a non-conference match Saturday (Oct 6) at home against Wisconsin-Stout at 1 p.m.
