Scots beat Gustavus, but lose tie-breaker for MIAC playoffs

Macalester beat Gustavus 3-0 in the regular-season finale in St. Peter to finish with a fourth-place 6-4-1 MIAC record, but loses a tie-breaker for the final conference playoff berth to St. Benedict as the Scots close out with a 10-6-1 overall record.  The Scots reach double digits in the win column for 23rd time in 24 years.

The Scots tallied their three goals in the first 21 minutes of the match.  Lydia Chodosh (Fy., Los Angeles, Calif. / Culver City) put Macalester on top just 88 seconds into the contest and Macalester extended its margin when Georgia Cloepfil (Jr., Portland, Ore. / Lincoln) scored her 14th and 15th goals of the season in the 15th and 22nd minute, the second on a (So., Ann Arbor, Mich. / Pioneer) Margaret Nemetz assist.

Mac compiled a 12-5 advantage in shots on goal and received five saves from goalkeeper Rosie Glenn-Finer (Sr., San Francisco, Calif. / Lick Wilmerding).

The Scots won five of the final six matches to close out the campaign.
