Macalester's
Izzi Speer (So., Madison, Wis. / West) scored in the first minute of play and that goal held up as the Scots moved to 2-0 on the young season with a 1-0 triumph over Luther (Ia.) in St. Paul.
Speer, who assisted on Macalester's overtime game-winner Thursday against St. Scholastica, stole the ball from Luther about 15 yards out and rifled a shot into the upper right corner at the :57 mark.
Posting her second shutout in as many starts this season, goalkeeper
Rosie Glenn-Finer (Jr., San Francisco, Calf. / Lick Wilmerding) recorded two saves. Glenn-Finer picks up her 11th career shutout.
Macalester out-shot the Norse 24-4 and enjoyed a 9-2 margin in corner kicks while controlling the attack throughout. Speer provided four of her team's nine shots on net, while
Georgia Cloepfil (So., Portland, Ore. / Lincoln) was turned away by the Luther keeper three times.
