Macalester vs. St. Scholastica statistics

Macalester owned a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks but couldn't pull off the victory until the final corner, getting a game-winning header by Kat Lenhart (Jr., Fairview, N.C. / A.C. Reynolds) off a pass from Izzi Speer (So., Madison, Wis. / West) in the eighth minute of overtime as the Scots toppled visiting St. Scholastica 1-0 on a hot afternoon in St. Paul.

The Scots out-shot the Saints 25-4 and forced the CSS goalkeeper to register 12 saves. Mac owned a 12-0 advantage in shots in the second half and overtime.

This is the third straight year Macalester has started out with a victory over St. Scholastica, with the 2009 and 2011 matches going to overtime to break a scoreless tie.

Maggie Molter (So., Cedarburg, Wis.) had three of Macalester's 13 shots on goal, while chipping in with two apiece were Speer and Ingrid Greene (Fy., Madison, Wis. / Memorial).

Macalester returns to action Sunday (Sept. 4) at home against Luther (Ia.) at 2 p.m.
