No. 21-ranked St. Thomas clinched the MIAC championship for the 10th time in 12 years by sweeping the upset-minded Scots 10-2 and 7-2. The games were moved indoors to the Rosemount Dome due to wet fields.
Macalester tied the nightcap 2-2 when it plated a pair of runs in the top of the fifth on three hits. The Tommies, however, answered with three in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the sixth to improve to a perfect 20-0 in the MIAC.
Four Scots drove in single runs apiece on the day:
Hayley Reeves (Sr., Oberlin, Ohio),
Sarah Blau (Fy., Encino, Calif. / Oakwood),
Katie Fuller (Fy., Boulder, Colo.) and
Cleo Nagy (Fy., Eugene, Ore. / Henry D. Sheldon).
Allie Dautrich (Fy., Mansfield Center, Conn. / E.O. Smith) was 2-for-2 with a run scored in the first game, and Reeves belted her third home run of the season to lead off the second inning. Pitching
Amanda Knopf (Jr., Boulder, Colo.) was strong in the circle in the nightcap.
