Blazers advance past Scots on penalty kick shootout

Macalester vs. St. Benedict statistics

Macalester and St. Benedict played to 110 minutes of a scoreless deadlock to force a penalty kick shootout in an MIAC semi-final match in St. Joseph.  The Blazers advanced to the MIAC finals by out-scoring the Scots 2-0 in the shootout.

The Scots topped CSB 1-0 when these two teams met in September in St. Joseph but this time neither team managed a goal in 90 minutes of regulation play or in the two 10-minute overtime sessions.

St. Benedict out-shot Macalester 14-12, including 8-7 in shots on goal.  The Blazers enjoyed a commanding 12-4 margin in corner kicks.  Macalester goalkeeper Rosie Glenn-Finer (Jr., San Fransisco, Calif. / Lick Wilmerding) recorded eight saves to keep the Scots in the game, picking up her 11th shutout in 17 starts.

St. Benedict (11-6-2) will host Concordia-Moorhead (12-2-5) in the MIAC finals Saturday (Nov. 5) with an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs on the line.
