Macalester vs. Concordia statistics
Second half goals by
Chris Kartheiser (Sr., Shorewood, Wis.) and
Taylor Rasmussen (Jr., Eagan, Minn. / Eastview) gave Macalester a 2-0 MIAC victory in Moorhead as the Scots improve to 7-5 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
Matt Weyer (Sr., Cedarburg, Wis.) recorded five saves to post his third shutout in six MIAC starts.
Concordia beat the Scots in last year's MIAC playoff semi-finals to snap a 17-match skid in the series, but were unable to make it two in a row as Macalester controlled the attack in the second half, out-shooting the Cobbers 10-3 in the period. Kartheiser opened the scoring on a corner kick from
Jesse Geary (Sr., Duluth, Minn. / Marshall) in the 58th minute. In the 67th minute, Rasmussen netted his 10th goal of the year on a
Robin Forslund (So., Madison, Wis. / Memorial) setup.
MIAC scoring leader Rasmussen has reached double digits in goal scoring for the second straight season and his 28 career goals is tied for No. 6 on the school's career list with Ian Williamson '95.
The Cobbers drop to 3-7-1 overall, 0-5-1 in the MIAC.
The Scots return to their home field Wednesday (Oct. 12) when they host St. Thomas at 7:30 p.m. They'll be going for their fourth win in a row.
