Macalester received goals from Kat Lenhart (Jr., Fairview, N.C. / A.C. Reynolds) and Bonnie Gale (Fy., Anchorage, Ak. / South Anchorage) and posted a shutout for the eighth time in 10 games, beating visiting Cornell (Ia.) 2-0.  The Scots win their third match in a row and are now 7-2-1 on the season.

The Scots picked up a corner kick less than :15 seconds into the match and at :37 Lenhart headed in the well-placed pass from Izzi Speer (So., Madison, Wis. / West) to put the home side up for good.    Speer has accounted for five of her team's six assists on the season.

Gale put in a deflection off the Cornell keeper in the 58th minute to register her first collegiate goal and give Macalester its insurance goal.

Macalester controlled the attack throughout and enjoyed a 12-0 advantage in shots on goal.  Georgia Cloepfil (So., Portland, Ore. / Lincoln) accounted for five of her team's 12 shots on net.  Goalkeeper  Ellen Palmquist (So., Fort Collins, Colo. / Poudre) picks up her first shutout in her first Mac start.

The Scots jump right back into action tomorrow when they play at Wisconsin-Eau Claire for their final non-conference match of the season.  Mac is 3-0-1 in the MIAC and returns to league play Wednesday (Oct. 5) at St. Catherine.
