The Scots and St. Catherine split a pair of extra-inning games on Mac's Senior Night, as the college honored the careers of eight Macalester soon-to-be graduates. Macalester came back from a 3-1 seventh inning deficit to win 4-3 in eight frames in the opener, and in the nightcap, St. Kate's won 4-1 in nine innings.

Alison Phillips (Sr., Vernon Hills, Ill. / Adlai Stevenson) doubled with two outs and scored on a single by Monica Keaney (Sr., Philadelphia, Pa. / Friends Select) in the bottom of the eighth to give the Scots the walk-off win in game one.

The Scots sent the game into extra innings with a pair of runs in the seventh, despite starting the rally with two outs following what looked to be a decisive double play ground out.

With two outs in the bottom of the inning, , however, Courtney Nussbaumer (Fy., Brookfield, Wis. / East) walked, Ali Nystrom (Sr., Minnetonka, Minn.) doubled to deep center, and Olivia Abbott (Sr., Lakewood, Colo. / Green Mountain) doubled in two to stun the Wildcats. Nystrom went 5-for-9 on the day to boost her average to .315. In addition to keeping the game alive with her clutch double to tie the score, Abbott was the winning pitcher, striking out seven batters and giving up only six hits and a couple walks in her eight innings in the circle.

Macalester made SCU work for the split, scoring in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the score 1-1 and giving starting pitcher Amanda Knopf (So., Boulder, Colo.) a chance to be rewarded for a strong effort. Knopf gave up just five hits and a run through her first eight innings, but St. Catherine plated its inning three runs in the ninth. Crystal Barriga (Sr., Broomfield, Colo. / Legacy) singled in Nystrom to tie things up in the sixth with her 125th RBI of her career.

The Scots play Wednesday (April 28) at No. 25-ranked Gustavus.
