Macalester won its first three games and finished at 3-2 over the weekend at the CWPA Water Polo Invitational at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois.

The Scots beat Connecticut College 17-12, Penn State-Behrend 13-4 and Utica (N.Y.) 14-8, before dropping games to Wheaton 15-7 and tournament champ Carthage 19-6. Mac is now 5-13 on the season.

Catherine Flint (So., Palo Alto, Calif. / Henry Gunn) pumped in 24 goals in Mac's five games to spearhead the attack, and Sarah Ellerton (Sr., Suffield, Conn. / Suffield Academy) scored 19 on the weekend. Ramona McCabe (So., Santa Cruz, Calif. / San Lorenzo Valley) scored five times, while Grace Fleming (So., Northampton, Mass.) and Jillian Benson (Jr., Evanston, Ill. / Evanston Township) added four goals apiece.

In the tournament-opening win over Connecticut College, the Scots were led by Flint with seven goals, five assists and five stolen balls. Ellerton contributed four goals, five assists and six steals, while McCabe and Flemming added two scores each. Goalkeeper Hannah Strauss-Albee (Fy., Plymouth, Minn. / Wayzata). Benson had three assists and six stolen balls.

Flint netted four goals and Ellerton scored three times while assisting on four other scores against Penn State-Behrend. Benson also handed out four assists. Fleming and McCabe each scored twice and Strauss-Albee recorded 13 saves to go along with four steals and an assist.

In the win over Utica, Strauss-Albee made 12 saves and all of the scoring came from Flint with eight goals and Ellerton with six.
