Concordia-Moorhead scored just 1:08 into the contest and went on to gain a 3-1 MIAC playoff semi-final win over the Scots at Macalester Stadium. The Scots, the regular-season MIAC championships, will wait until Monday (Nov. 8) to see if their 14-4-1 record is good enough to earn a selection to the NCAA Division III playoffs.
Macalester was on the attack for much of the first half, and out-shot Concordia 12-3 (6-2 in shots on goal), but trailed 2-0 as Concordia goalkeeper Peter Runquist turned away six attempts on net. The second half was played on equal terms, and a Concordia goal in the 65th minute gave the visitors a comfortable 3-0 margin.
Macalester didn't score until the final minute when
Taylor Rasmussen (Sr., Eagan, Minn. / Eastview) netted his team-best 12 goal of the season.
Concordia will play on the road Saturday (Nov. 6) for the MIAC playoff title at Augsburg, which beat Carleton 1-0 tonight in Minneapolis.
