Rasmussen hat trick gives Scots win over Cardinals

Taylor Rasmussen (So., Eagan, Minn. / Eastview) scored all three of his team's goals to lead Macalester past St. Mary's 3-0 on a warm night in St. Paul. Last week's MIAC player of the week, Rasmussen has tallied all five of Macalester's goals during the team's three-game winning streak, and now has produced nine goals on the season.

The Scots remain among the top contenders for the conference crown, moving up to 4-1 in MIAC competition and 10-2-1 overall. They have yielded just one goal (an overtime penalty kick) over their past five matches. Macalester is a perfect 14-0-0 over its last 14 home games. The Cardinals drop to 2-11 on the season, 0-5 in the MIAC.  They have yielded just one goal (an overtime penalty kick) over their past five matches. MIAC.

Mac enjoyed a 10-4 margin in shots on goal and 31-9 lead in overall shots.

Rasmussen put the home team on top in the sixth minute and netted another first half score in the 24th minute of play on a Jesse Geary (Jr., Duluth, Minn. / Marshall) assist. Ryan Marshall (Jr., Plymouth, Minn. / Robbinsdale Armstrong) helped Rasmussen complete the hat trick with an assist 18 minutes into the second half.

The Scots play their fourth straight home game Wednesday (Oct. 13) when they host Gustavus at 7:30 p.m. After that, they play their next three matches on the road.
