The Scots controlled the attack from start to finish Friday night at Macalester Stadium against MIAC rival Bethel, but had to wait until the 78th minute to get on the scoreboard, and held off a few late BU chances late to pick up a 1-0 decision and move up to 9-2-1 on the season and 3-1 in conference play.

Will Mackaman (Fy., Des Moines, Ia. / Roosevelt) delivered a nice pass to Taylor Rasmussen (So., Eagan, Minn. / Eastview), who beat the BU keeper for his team-leading sixth goal of the year from close range in the 78th minute. This was the ninth of Macalester's 10 shots on goal as the Scots were previously denied on numerous chances, many on headers.

The Scots out-shot the Royals 24-6 and 10-4 in tries on net. Mark Mullaney (Sr., Plymouth, Minn. / Robbinsdale Armstrong) didn't need to make any first half saves, but came up with four stops in the second half to post his eighth career shutout and dropping his goals against average on the season to 0.98. Macalester has sacrificed just eight goals in 12 games.

The Royals drop to 2-7-2 overall, 1-2-2 in the MIAC.

Macalester gets some rest and then plays the third of its four consecutive home matches next Friday (Oct. 8) when it hosts St. Mary's at 7:30 p.m.
