After beating Penn State-Behrend last night to start the three-day, six-match Midwest Invitational in Kenosha, Wis., the Scots played three games Friday and went 1-2 on the day. Macalester fell to Grove City (Pa.) 7-3, defeated Wheaton (Ill.) 10-4, and in the evening lost to Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) 6-3.
Macalester is now 8-10 on the season and plays two more tournament games tomorrow against host-Carthage (Wis.) and Colorado College.
Grove City allowed the Scots just three scores, two by
Sarah Ellerton (Jr., Suffield, Conn. / Suffield Academy) and one by
Bailey Gucinski (Fy., Chicago, Ill. / Waubonsie Valley).
Goalkeeper
Sofia Shaw (Sr., Tacoma, Wash. / Stadium) turned away 17 shots on goal to lead Macalester past Wheaton's in the afternoon game. Ellerton netted five goals and
Catherine Anderson (Fy., Palo Alto, Calif. / Henry Gunn) pumped in three goals to go along with two assists and two steals.
Against Washington & Jefferson, the Scots picked up a pair of goals from Anderson and one from Ellerton.
