Macalester got off to a good start at the three-day Carthage Invitational, winning the first of its six games in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Mac beat Penn State-Behrend by a commanding 13-2 tally and is now 7-8 on the season.
Bailey Gucinski (Fy., Chicago, Ill. / Waubonsie Valley) netted five of her team's 13 goals to lead the Macalester attack.
Catherine Anderson (Fy., Palo Alto, Calif. / Henry Gunn) also enjoyed a big game, contributing three goals, four assists and two steals to the cause.
Sarah Ellerton (Jr., Suffield, Conn. / Suffield Academy) scored twice and led the defense with five steals, while adding one goal apiece were
Melinda Vogel (So., Santa Barbara, Calif. / San Marcos),
Alex Cortes (Sr., Berkeley, Calif. / Head-Royce) and
Jillian Benson (So., Evanston, Ill. / Evanston Township).
The Scots play tomorrow against Grove City (Pa.), Wheaton (Ill.) and Washington & Jefferson (Pa.). On Saturday they take on Carthage and Colorado College.
