The Scots had been playing their best ball of the season going into Saturday's doubleheader at home with Concordia-Moorhead, but were swept by the Cobbers 2-1 and 6-4 in a pair of close games.

Macalester's Oliva Abbott (Jr., Lakewood, Colo. / Green Mountain) and Concordia's Kelsey Jones squared off in a game one pitching dual, each giving up just five hits. The Cobbers scored both their runs in the top of the first before Abbott settled down and allowed just two hits the rest of the way.

Both teams hit the ball better in the second game. The Scots went on top 3-0 with three runs in the bottom of the second frame. Concordia crossed the plate four times in the fourth before the Scots tied things up 4-4 with a single run in the bottom of the fourth. Concordia broke the deadlock for good in the top of the six.

Abbott and Amanda Cagan (Jr., Saratoga, Calif. / Monta Vista) led the Macalester attack with two hits apiece.

The Scots travel Wednesday (April 22) to Winona to take on St. Mary's.
