Macalester vs. Hamline statistics
Taylor Rasmussen (Fy., Eagan, Minn. / Eastview) scored off a
Ryan Marshall (So., Plymouth, Minn. / Robbinsdale Armstrong) assist 37 seconds into overtime as Macalester beat Hamline 2-1 to advance to the MIAC playoffs next week.
With four straight wins, the Scots finish the conference campaign at 7-3 and clinch the No. 2 seed in the four-team conference post-season. They'll host one of several possible challengers next Wednesday (Nov. 4) in one MIAC semi-final match at 7:30 p.m. Conference champ Carleton will host the other semi-final tilt.
Mac and Carleton will each host of the following four teams: St. Olaf, Concordia, St. Thomas or Gustavus. The match-ups will be determined after tomorrow's games involving those teams.
Macalester jumped on top just minutes before the halftime intermission when
Carson Gorecki (Sr., Mahtomedi, Minn.) scored off a Rasmussen assist. The Pipers, however, headed in a corner kick at 70:00 to force overtime.
The Scots earned a 14-4 advantage in shots and 5-2 lead in shots on goal. Macalester took nine of the match's 16 corner kicks.
Wednesday's home MIAC playoff game will be Macalester's first post-season contest since 2005.
