Daniel Calderon (So., St. Paul, Minn. / Cretin-Derham Hall) scored his first collegiate goal to break a scoreless tie midway through the second half and Macalester went on to defeat visiting Simpson (Ia.) 3-0, bouncing back from a defeat by the same tally two nights ago to Oberlin (Ohio.). The Scots improve to 3-1 going into their conference opener later this week, while Simpson drops to 1-2-1.
Jake Rocke (Jr., Lincoln, Neb. / East), who set up Calderon's goal at 64:39, netted his first marker of the campaign from 25-yards out on a
Reid Usedom (Fy., Asheville, N.C. / A.C. Reynolds) pass at 74:34 to give the home team a comfortable margin.
Scott Petesch (Jr., Bethesda, Md. / Walter Johnson) fooled the Simpson goalkeeper, converting a wonderfully-placed free kick from 40 yards away, to seal the victory. Petesch leads the Scots with three goals through the season's first four games.
The Storm out-shot Macalester 11-10 and enjoyed a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks, but could not get the ball past keeper
