Why I chose Macalester:
"I chose Macalester for a variety of reasons. Although roughly a mile from my house, Macalester intrigued me because of the academic prowess and because of the reputation of the soccer program. I looked for a balance between strong academics and competitive soccer. Academically, I hoped to be challenged and to have the ability to contribute in class discussions. I wanted to feel like a person, not a number. For soccer, I was impressed by the superb coaching staff and the state of the art athletic facilities."

What Macalester has meant to me so far:
"Macalester has been what I had expected and much more. I truly believe the school has helped me to grow as a student, an athlete and as a person. Although the academics are rigorous, my professors were always there to lend a helping hand when I needed it. As an athlete, Macalester soccer has been an experience I would trade for none other; the diversity of the players and the different talents that go along with it is a beauty to watch and an honor to play with. Macalester has shown me the importance of accepting, living, and learning with people from all over the world. My experience at Macalester surely is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life."

Perspective on Macalester as a Senior:
"Macalester has been all that I expected and more. Majoring in International Studies and Hispanic Studies, I have enjoyed classes with peers from all over the world. Just last year, I had the opportunity to intern at the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota and run a World Cup Soccer Camp for local middle school kids over the summer. The soccer culture here is unmatched by any of the MIAC schools, we get huge rowdy crowds at our games and enjoy wide support on campus. The soccer community is tight knit and extremely supportive, even after graduation. I look forward to my senior year with high hopes and feel that Macalester has prepared me for the world beyond."
