Macalester vs. St. Mary's statistics
Macalester and St. Mary's played three close sets, but it was the Cardinals of SMU pulling away each time for a 25-20, 25-23, 25-23 triumph over the Scots in St. Paul. The visiting Cardinals hit .286 on the night and improve to 10-6 on the campaign and 2-0 in the MIAC. Macalester is 4-8 overall, 0-2 in league play.
The Scots received 12 kills from
Majra Mucic (So., Zenica, Bosnia / St. Louis Park (Minn.)).
Taylor Tinkham (Fy., St. Louis Park, Minn.) added eight kills and
Danielle Dweck (Fy., Glen Head, N.Y. / North Shore) dished out 27 assists in the three sets.
Marie Godwin (Jr., Chaska, Minn.) led the back row effort with 12 digs, while
Sonia Muzikarova (Sr., Bratislava, Slovakia / Gymnazium Bilikova) added 10 digs to go along with six kills.
Brittany Cherwinka set 38 assists to lead the SMU attack. Amy Kujak spiked 15 kills and Jessica Mate added 13.
Macalester had a chance to force a fourth set, but St. Mary's rallied with the final five points to win 25-23 and close out the sweep.
The Scots play host to Concordia-Moorhead this Saturday (Sept. 27) at 3 p.m.
