After St. Mary's completed a seventh-inning come-from-behind victory in the first game of an MIAC doubleheader at Dunning Field, the Scots returned the favor in the nightcap, rallying from a 7-2 deficit to claim the nightcap with a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh. This exciting conference twinbill saw the Cardinals win the opener by a 5-4 tally and Macalester winning game two 10-9 behind a season-high 16-hit attack.

The split leaves the Scots at 8-22 overall and 3-15 in the MIAC with two league twinbills remaining. St. Mary's falls out of a second-place tie in the conference standings, and is now 15-17 overall, 13-5 in the MIAC.

Despite having dropped to 0-7 in one-run defeats in this tough-luck MIAC campaign with a last-inning loss, and despite falling behind 7-2 early, the Scots kept their fight alive and battled back in the exciting second game. Lisa Moldan (Fy., New Ulm, Minn. / Sleepy Eye St. Mary's) went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, and Hayley Reeves (Fy., Oberlin, Ohio) hit her third home run of the year, a three-run shot if the fifth inning to begin the comeback. Katie Grudnowski (Sr., Minnetonka, Minn. / Blake School) went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and Ali Nystrom (So., Minnetonka, Minn.) was 3-for-5 with two runs.

Macalester added another three in the bottom of the sixth, only the see the Cards re-gain the lead in the seventh with a single tally. This time, after they had dropped seven of their previous 14 MIAC games by just a run, the Scots took the win. Olivia Abbott (So., Lakewood, Colo. / Green Mountain) walked to start the rally. Moldan followed with her third hit, a single, and both Abbott and Moldan scored when the cut-off throw was dropped and the ball got away.

The first game was just as close. After falling behind 3-0 early, Mac plated a pair of runs and the second and fourth innings to go up 4-3. Only a pair of SMU runs in the top of the seventh were able to save the Cardinals. Monica Keaney (So., Philadelphia, Pa. / Friends Select) drove in two runs on her first home run of the season and Crystal Barriga (So., Broomfield, Colo. / Legacy) had a couple hits for the second straight game and made a great catch in deep center to halt an SMU rally.
