Macalester's season wrapped up at the Midwest Region Championships in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Scots won one of their five matches, picking up their lone victory in Friday's night's final match with a 9-8 decision over Wheaton (Ill.). Mac winds up its campaign with a 4-15-1 record.

Eventual tourney champion Carthage (Wis.) beat the Scots 8-6 in the opening contest for Macalester. In the second of three Friday games, Macalester fell to host-Colorado College 9-5 before its one-point triumph over Wheaton. On Saturday, the Scots lost to Colorado College 12-4 and Wheaton 6-3.

Goalkeeper Sofia Shaw (Jr., Tacoma, Wash. / Stadium) and team scoring-leader Sarah Ellerton (So., Suffield, Conn. / Suffield Academy) were named to the seven-player all-tournament team, while Katie Mertz (So., Evanston, Ill. / Evanston Township) received honorable all-tourney team honors.

In Mac's win over Wheaton, Shaw had another strong game in the net with 14 blocked shots, including a near flawless first half in which she blocked 10 shots and led the Scots to a 4-1 lead. The third quarter ended with a 7-4 Macalester advantage. Ellerton led all scorers with five goals, and Katie Mertz added two for the Scots.
