Macalester went 3-7 at the Rebel Games in Kissimmee, Florida, over Spring Break.  The Scots beat Polytechnic (N.Y.) 8-3, Trinity (Conn.) 12-10 and Millikin (Ill.) 5-4.  The were defeated by Hope (Mich.), Endicott (Mass.) (in extra innings), Rowan (N.J)., Carthage (Wis.), Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio), William Paterson (N.J.) and McDaniel (Md.).  Most of the games were closely played.

Macalester head coach Tom Cross picked up his 300th collegiate softball coaching victory when the Scots toppled Trinity on March 16.  Cross coached 15 seasons at Concordia-St. Paul and now is in his fifth year at Mac.

Mac's top hitter over the Spring Break week was Crystal Barriga (So., Broomfield, Colo. / Legacy), who batted .367 (11-for-30) with five doubles and 12 RBI.  Last year's team RBI leader, Barriga has already passed last year's total and on the season now has 18 on a .784 slugging percentage.

Meredith Wisniewski (Jr., Park Ridge, Ill. / Maine South) also hit well, going 7-for-21 for a .333 batting mark.  Amanda Cagan (So., Saratoga, Calif . /Monta Vista) hit .280.  Katie Grudnowski (Sr., Minnetonka, Minn. / Blake School) led the team with nine runs scored and was second on the team with eight hits.

Olivia Abbott (So., ) struck out 29 batters in 49 innings pitched and registered a 4.86 ERA.
