Macalester played nine games over Spring Break (March 15-21) against some very strong compeition in Southern California. The Scots played Division I teams George Washington and Wagner and also took on some top small college programs, as well.
Macalester went 1-8 on the week, with the highlight of the trip being a 12-10 victory over Caltech in Pasadena.
Sarah Ellerton (So., Suffield, Conn. / Suffield Academy) led the offensive attack with 13 goals scored on the week.
Katie Mertz (So., Evanston, Ill. / Evanston Township) scored nine times, while
Aubrey Harding (So., Salem, Ore. / South Salem) and
Jillian Benson (Fy., Evanston, Ill. / Evanston Township) netted five goals apiece.
In the win over Caltech, Ellerton registered five goals, while added two apiece were Harding, Mertz and
Claire Eder (Fy., Evanston, Ill. / Evanston Township). Goalkeeper
Sophia Shaw (Jr., Tacoma, Wash. / Stadium) recorded 10 saves.
Mac plays five games this Friday and Saturday (March 28-29) at the Midwest Invitational Tournament in Wheaton, Illinois. The Scots will take on Grove City (Pa.), Carthage (Wis.), Colorado College, Wheaton and Washington & Jefferson (Pa.).
