Season winds down with 3-2 loss to Hamline

Macalester won two of the first three sets, but Hamline battled back to claim the fourth and fifth sets for a 3-2 triumph over the Scots in the season-finale Friday night at the Leonard Center. Game scores, from Mac's perspective, were 26-24, 18-25, 25-19, 14-25 and 11-15. Hamline enjoyed a 60-45 advantage in kills and closes out its season at 16-11 overall, 4-7 in the MIAC. Macalester finishes at 4-24 overall and 0-11 in MIAC play.

This was Mac's second heart-breaking 3-2 setback this week to finish off the season. On Wednesday, No. 19-ranked Gustavus came from a 2-1 deficit to escape with the win.

The Scots served 11 aces, including three apiece by Sonia Muzikarova (Sr., Bratislava, Slovakia / Gymnazium Bilikova), Danielle Dweck (Fy., Glen Head, N.Y. / North Shore), and Erin Cusac (Jr., Pine River, Minn. / Pine River-Backus). Cusac also had seven blocks, while Dweck contributed 32 assists and 18 digs.

Five Scots reached double figures in digs, led by libero Kiera Coulter (So., Davis, Calif.) with 21. Coulter had 45 digs in the team's final two matches.

Majra Mucic (So., Zenica, Bosnia / St. Louis Park (Minn.)) hit .243 and led the attack at the net with 14 kills. Muzikarova, playing in her final collegiate match, added 12 kills.

Hamline was led by Amanda Booth and Anita Rosas with 14 kills each, while Jackie Kelly contributed 48 assists and 17 digs.
