Macalester played to its second MIAC draw in a row as the Scots and Gustavus finished in a 1-1 double overtime tie in St. Peter as the Scots see their post-season hopes fade. The Scots, who tied St. Catherine 0-0 earlier in the week, are now 8-7-2 on the season and at 5-3-2 in the MIAC, are in need of a victory in next weekend's regular-season finale just to have a chance of getting into the four-team league playoffs.
Mac defender
Liz Hormann (Sr., Salem, Ore. / South Salem) scored her third goal of the season in the 57th minute to give the Scots a 1-0 advantage, but that was short-lived as Gustavus came back with the equalizer in the 59th minute. Hormann's goal was assisted by
Lucy Miner (Fy., Seattle, Wash. / Ballard).
Gustavus out-shot Macalester 16-2 and forced Mac keeper
Jenny Lee (Sr., Circle Pines, Minn. / Centennial) to make eight saves to keep her team in the game. GAC enjoyed a 9-2 lead in shots on goal and had an 8-2 margin in corner kicks.
The Scots host Augsburg on Friday (Oct. 31) at 7:30 p.m. in the regular-season finale.
