Wade Ekstrom (Jr., La Crescent, Minn.) gave the Scots one of their three first-place finishes Friday night (Feb. 27) at Macalester’s Pre-MIAC Meeting, the first official meet at the new Leonard Center. Eckstrom battled Bethel All-American Dan Greeno and pulled away decisively for an exciting victory in the 1-mile run (4:17.74). Ekstrom's 4:17.74 break's one of the oldest Macalester school records, smashing the 29-year-old 1980 mark of 4:19.1 set by Paul Mausling. Just a week earlier, at the University of Minnesota Snowshoe Open, Ekstrom broke a 10-year-old school mark when he ran an 8:39.01 in the 3000-meter run.
