Peter Vang is in his first season with the Macalester men’s basketball team. The Maplewood, MN native joins the Scots after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Anoka Ramsey Community College.
"We are excited to welcome Peter to Macalester," head coach Abe Woldeslassie ‘08 said. "He has a tremendous work ethic and comes highly recommended by Coach Khalid El-Amin and Mike Muscala. He has a wide variety of basketball coaching experiences and will make our program stronger."
In his second season as head coach, Vang led Team Lamb Chops to a championship win in the 2024 Twin Cities Pro Am. Vang has also been on staff at St. Thomas Academy, Bethel University, Osseo High School and with the Minnesota Heat basketball organization.
Vang served as Camp Director of Mike Muscala Basketball Camps from 2014-2017. He is also the owner of PVisionhoops and has served as a basketball skills trainer and video consultant with college and professional athletes.
Vang is a 2017 graduate of Metropolitan State University. He is currently a Sunday School teacher at St. Paul Hmong Alliance Church and works within financial systems at U.S. Bancorp.
