Katelyn Pete joins the Macalester coaching staff for the 2016 season. She has previously coached at Minnehaha Academy, Park High School and Kokoro Volleyball Club. Pete also has coached at Macalester and Kokoro summer camps for several years.
Pete, formerly Carlson, grew up in Rochester, Minn. She graduated from Mayo High School as a two-sport athlete (volleyball and basketball) before pursuing volleyball at the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse. As an outside hitter for the Eagles, she was a four-year letter winner and team captain. Pete is still in the record books for all-time kills (seventh with 1,072) and single season kills (fifth with 477 in 2007). She finished her career as a WIAC first team All-Conference selection and an honorable mention NCAA Division III All-American. She graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Math.
Katelyn currently works in the South Washington County School District as a fourth grade teacher. She received her Master’s degree from Saint Mary’s University in Education in 2015. She lives in Brooklyn Center with her husband Joe.
