Astyn Kramer is in her second stretch of coaching at Macalester College. In her first season (2009-10), she assisted under Stephanie Schleuder.
Kramer, formerly Astyn Bjorklund, grew up in southern Minnesota and along with being a two-sport athlete (volleyball and basketball) at Sibley East High School; she played for the Northern Lights volleyball club, which led to a four-year collegiate, Division I career at Xavier University (Ohio). As a middle hitter for the Musketeers, Astyn was a four-year, Athletic 10 all-conference selection and still in the school record book in season hitting percentage (third with .377), single game kills (fifth with 27), single game hitting percentage (seventh with .654), single game total blocks (first with 10) and single game points (ninth with 28). She graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in Finance.
After two years of being back in Minnesota, working for Wells Fargo’s Private Mortgage Division and coaching at Northern Lights, Kramer set her sights East and completed a two-year Graduate Assistantship at the University of Delaware (Division I) while obtaining her Master’s in Business Administration in May 2012. While at Delaware, under the direction of head and associate head coaches Bonnie Kenny and Cindy Gregory, Astyn helped the team to win CAA Championships and make NCAA tournament appearances in both their 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.
Astyn currently works as a Marketing Specialist for Minnesota Life in St. Paul and lives in Woodbury, Minn. with her husband, Tony.
