Tashina Steggall

Tashina Steggall joined the Macalester track & field coaching staff as Associate Head Coach in November of 2021. Steggall, who coaches sprinters, hurdlers and jumpers at Macalester, spent four years at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, and was the Rams’ head track & field coach from 2019-21.

“We are excited to welcome Tashina Steggall to Macalester as our Associate Head Track & Field Coach,” Schofer said. “She is a proven leader whose experience as an elite student-athlete and successful coach will help our program grow and improve. Tashina is not only driven towards excellent track and field results but is dedicated to the overall well-being of the student-athletes she works with.”

While at Cornell, Steggall coached 15 national meet qualifiers and two All-Americans, and her athletes set nine school records during her tenure. As an assistant coach under Schofer at Cornell, she coached the hurdlers, sprinters and jumpers, and assisted with speed and agility training. She also recruited sprinters and field event athletes to Cornell. Prior to coaching at Cornell, Steggall was a graduate assistant at Concordia University in Irvine, Calif., where she coached and recruited the hurdlers while also contributing to the team’s social media efforts.

A 2014 graduate of Wartburg College, Steggall had an outstanding collegiate career as a hurdler and sprinter for the Knights. A 14-time All-American, she won the 2014 national indoor championship in the 60-meter hurdles while finishing second at the national outdoor meet in the 400-meter hurdles in both 2013 and 2014. As a senior Steggall was chosen the Central Region Track Athlete of the Year.

A native of Hazleton, Iowa, Steggall won two state championships in the 400 hurdles and another in the 100 meters. She and her husband, Brandon, are the parents of daughter Jayla and son Peyton.
