Amanda Smock is in her third year coaching horizontal jumps for Macalester’s men’s and women’s track & field teams. Prior to joining the Mac staff she was a volunteer assistant coach for the University of Minnesota women’s track & field team for five years. Smock has also been a private coach to high school track & field athletes in the past. She is a USATF Level 2 certified coach in Sprints, Hurdles and Jumps.
From Melrose, Minnesota, Smock received her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology while at North Dakota State University. While there, Smock was three time NCAA Division II National Champion in the triple jump. Since then, Smock earned a Masters and PhD in Kinesiology from the University of Minnesota.
Currently living with her husband Greg in Minneapolis, Smock trains and competes professionally in the triple jump for Asics and the New York Athletic Club. She competed in the 2012 Olympics, is a seven-time USATF National triple jump champion, two-time World Championships Team member, and 13-time All-American.
