Dean’s List recipient … Co-host of a radio show on WMCN … Member of Macalester Democrats … Studied abroad in San Francisco, Vietnam, Morocco, and Bolivia in Spring 2017

 

2014: Garcia made her collegiate debut in the 6,000 meter run with a time of 26:36 at the UW-River Falls Invitational … She ran a PR of 25:51 in the 6,000 meter at the MIAC Championships … Put up a time of 17:15 in the 4,000 meter at the St. Kate’s Invitational

2015: Notched a season PR in the 6,000 meter at the UW-La Crosse Tori Neubauer Invitational with a time of 25:52 … Ran a 4,000 meter PR of 17:12 at the St. Kate’s Invitational … Raced 22:46 in her first 5,000 meter run at the Luther All-American

2016: Raced to a PR in the 5,000 meter with a time of 22:06 at the St. Kate’s Invitational … Ran a season PR in the 6,000 meter at the MIAC Championships in a time of 26:59

Why did you choose to attend Macalester?

I wanted a school that had a large focus on diversity and internationalism. I believe that surrounding yourself with people who are different from yourself lead to a more well rounded education and a greater acceptance of others. Macalester fits this role perfectly.


What has your experience at Macalester meant to you so far?

My experience at Macalester thus far has been rewarding. In the past year I have put in the effort to try new things and gain new experiences; in doing so I have learned a lot in the time I've been here, both inside and outside the classroom.


How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester helped shape you as an individual?

My time as a student-athlete at Macalester has surrounded me with empowered and inspiring friends who work hard on the track and in the classroom. These friends motivate me to be a better student and a more driven individual.

  
How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester prepared you for life after graduation?

I have met people who motivate me to persevere through new challenges and to find an energizing balance in each day.
