How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester helped shape you as an individual?
Being a student-athlete at Macalester has taught me the importance of connecting with the collegiate community. Often there can be divide between students and athletes in colleges across the USA and I feel that student-athletes at Macalester do a great job making sure there is no gap here. Macalester emphasizes the importance of academics before sports, but they are able to do it in a way that does not impede athletic growth. For that reason, being a student-athlete has helped me in both my academics and athletics, while also allowing me to build relationships both on and off the team.
