Guthland is in his third year heading the throws program at Macalester. Prior to joining the Mac staff, he coached throws at Concordia Academy and Mayer Lutheran High School. In addition, he coached the Minnehaha Academy freshman boys basketball team for six years.
Guthland is no stranger to the MIAC, having attended the University of St. Thomas for his undergrad years. Guthland was a member of the track & field team while there. After receiving his B.A. in Business Law and Marketing, Guthland went to the University of Minnesota for his Coaching Certificate and Master of Education in Applied Kinesiology and Sports Management. Guthland is USATF Level 1 certified.
When not coaching at Macalester or at his home in Inver Grove Heights, Guthland works for Guthland Associates Inc., his father’s business.
