Why did you choose to attend Macalester?
I was looking for a small liberal arts college in the Midwest. I visited a number of schools and Mac was where I felt most at home, and I was attracted to its urban environment. It's a neat place.
How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester helped shape you as an individual?
Cross Country and Track & Field are sports where my true greatness shines. When I'm on the course, or the track, or running on pavement, no matter the surface, no matter the weather, I feel at home in my mind, and my body, and my spirit... Everyday when I lace up my Nike Zoom Vomero 11s and rendezvous with my MACPACK I become closer to self actualization.
How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester prepared you for life after graduation?
The first time I bought a pair of Nike Air Zoom Vomero gym shoes, they were model 10s. Now I run in 12s, and it won't be long before I get a pair of 13s. As my NAZVs have grown, so have I. My experiences as a student athlete have taught me how to work hard on the course and the track and the classroom and outside of it, all at the same time. In my post-grad life, I will continue to strive for greatness everywhere I turn in this decade and do the other things, not because are easy, but because Macalester has shaped me as such.
