Tucker Weisman joins the Macalester staff as head men's and women's golf coach this season. Weisman comes to Macalester after pursuing a career as a professional golfer.
A native of Edina, Minn., Weisman competed in professional events and tournaments across the country for five years. During that time, he also worked as a caddie at Tradition Golf Club in La Quinta, Calif., one of the premier golf courses in the country.
Weisman is no stranger to the MIAC, as he was a student-athlete at St. Olaf from 2004 to 2008. As a senior, he captained the Oles’ golf team and placed 13th individually at the MIAC Championships, leading his team to fourth place. Weisman also was St. Olaf’s representative on the MIAC All-Sportsmanship Team that year.
After graduating from St. Olaf with a Bachelor’s degree in exercise science with a concentration in business management, Weisman joined the Oles’ coaching staff as an assistant golf coach. He also worked at Breck School in Golden Valley, Minn., as a basketball coach for the freshman and junior varsity teams, and as an intern in the athletics department. In December of 2009, Weisman earned a Master’s of Education degree in sports management from the University of Minnesota.
“I am extremely excited to be a part of the Macalester Athletics family,” Weisman said. “There is a lot of potential for the golf program and with the right attitude and work ethic, I feel we will be very successful.”
A 2004 graduate of Breck, Weisman was an all-conference basketball player for the Mustangs.
