Rick Dold

Rick Dold, a 2007 graduate of St. John’s University, will enter his first season as an assistant coach for the Scots. Dold will work on the offensive side of the ball coaching the fullbacks and tight ends.

“Rick has been a great addition to our staff,” said head football coach Tony Jennison. “He has tremendous personal skills, is an extremely hard worker, and is always very positive. I really liked the fact that he had been a part of some very good football teams and was very well coached. His experiences at St. John’s can only help us in our efforts here at Macalester.”

Dold was a senior captain and two-year starter for SJU on the offensive line at both guard and center. He helped lead St. John’s to three MIAC championships and earned his B.A in Biology with a focus in Business Management. He spent the last year working in the private sector in finance and sales but decided that his passion was in football.

“I am really excited for the chance to get back into the game of football and I could think of no better place to start than Macalester College with the strides they have made in the last two years,” said Dold. “Getting the chance to meet the staff here, I know that they are focused 100% percent on continuing the recent gains on the field while helping the student-athletes reach an incredibly high level of success off the field.”

Dold was raised in Wanda, Minn., in the southwestern part of the state. While attending nearby Wabasso High School, he participated in basketball and golf as well as football. Dold was a three-year starter on both sides of ball at defensive tackle and at offensive guard and tackle and was also a two-year captain.
