Why give to Macalester’s Annual Fund?
1. Macalester’s Annual Fund now is supplementing the budget of the athletic department, replacing the M Club’s separate fundraising program.
2. Gifts to the Annual Fund support financial aid, faculty retention, campus upkeep, study abroad activities, grant opportunities, and now, athletics.
3. The Annual Fund specifically supports athletics with these priorities:
· Travel by teams for special competition and training. Travel has become extremely expensive for large groups. Costs have increased by 32% since 1998.
· Awards and team banquets that honor the accomplishments of current student athletes.
· Initiation of special alumni events that foster connection and school spirit among our former student athletes. An example of this was the successful "Celebrating Macalester Women in Sports" event in May of 2003.
Supporting the improvement of all teams also means supporting the College's long-held values of diversity and community. By providing financial assistance that will benefit all students, and athletic teams, alumni demonstrate their commitment to giving all students better opportunities and experiences. And the overall success of Macalester's athletic teams ultimately brings greater prominence and credibility to the entire Macalester athletic program.
