ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College seniors
Jess Palmer-Sammons (Half Moon Bay, Calif./Half Moon Bay) and
Jayden Kratt (Palo Alto, Calif./Henry M. Gunn) were named the CWPA Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, the conference announced today. Palmer-Sammons and Kratt led the Scots to a 3-1 weekend in conference play at Carthage March 14-15.
The 2025 CWPA Most Valuable Player, Palmer-Sammons scored four goals in an 8-7 overtime victory over the host Firebirds on Saturday before tallying two goals in a 7-5 loss to Augustana that evening. On Sunday, she had one goal in a 12-10 win over Grove City, then notched four goals to help Macalester beat Austin, 15-14 in overtime. Three of those goals came in a key third-quarter run that helped the Scots erase an 8-2 deficit to Austin.
Kratt played in three of the four games last weekend, backstopping Macalester to a 2-1 record. She tallied 12 saves in the win over Carthage and had seven saves in the narrow loss to Augustana on Saturday. Kratt's efforts were key to the overtime win over Austin on Sunday, as she registered 20 saves in goal.
Macalester heads to California for the Scots' annual Spring Break trip. The team will play five different opponents in three days, starting with a match at Caltech on Thursday, March 19 at 5:00 p.m. Pacific in Pasadena, Calif.
