ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team played its final home dual of the season on Saturday, losing to St. Olaf College, 8-1 at Hayden Tennis Courts. The Scots drop to 3-14 on the season and 1-8 in the conference, while the Oles improve to 12-3, 7-3 MIAC.
St. Olaf won all three doubles matches, including an 8-6 decision in favor of Olha Zubarieva and Jane Spading over juniors
Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) and
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) at No. 1 doubles. In singles, Trevathan earned the Scots' lone point on the day with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Spading at No. 2 singles. Haugen played well at No. 1 singles against Zubarieva but eventually lost a nail-biter, 7-6 (7-4), 7-5.
Macalester closes out the 2024-25 season on Sunday, April 27 with a MIAC dual at Hamline University. The first matches begin at 1:00 p.m.
