ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team dropped an MIAC dual to 29th-ranked Gustavus Adolphus, 8-1 in a MIAC dual Friday afternoon at Hayden Tennis Courts. The Scots are now 3-12 overall and 1-6 in conference play, while the Gusties (21-7) remain unbeaten in the MIAC with a 7-0 record.
In doubles, juniors
Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) and
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) battled Allison Szalay and Ella De Young before ultimately falling, 8-5. The Scots' lone point came at No. 2 singles, with Haugen defeating Szalay, 6-4, 7-5 for a hard-fought victory. Gustavus won the other five singles matches in straight sets.
Macalester faces Bethel University in another MIAC dual on Wednesday, April 23. The first matches begin at 4:30 p.m. in Arden Hills, Minn.
