ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team dropped a MIAC dual to the College of St. Scholastica Sunday afternoon at Hayden Tennis Courts. The Scots are now 3-11 overall and 1-5 in conference play, while the Saints improve to 10-5 on the season and 4-3 in the MIAC.
Before the match, Macalester honored its seniors
Megan Twomey (Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn) and
Camellia Schwartzman (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) as a part of Senior Day.
In doubles play, juniors
Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) and
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) narrowly lost to Julia Maier and Paula Sendele in a tie-breaker, 8-7 (7-5) at No. 1 doubles. Haugen earned Macalester's lone point with a 7-5, 2-6, 10-5 victory over Katie Bartels at No. 2 singles. Trevathan came close at No. 1 singles, eventually falling to Maier in a 10-point tie-breaker, 6-1, 5-7, 10-4.
The Scots host Gustavus on Friday, April 18 in another MIAC dual. The first matches are set to begin at 4:30 p.m. at Hayden Tennis Courts.
