MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team lost to St. Catherine University, 8-1 in a MIAC dual Friday night at Baseline Tennis Center. The Scots are now 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the conference, while the Wildcats improve to 5-1 on the season and 2-1 in the MIAC.
In doubles play, juniors
Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) and
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) battled Kelsey Dorr and Caitlyn Stadter at No. 1 doubles but came up short, 8-4. St. Kate's earned 8-1 wins at second and third doubles to take a 2-1 lead in the dual. Haugen came through at No. 2 singles with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Faith Simon for the Scots' only point of the night. The Wildcats wrapped up the dual by winning the remaining five singles matches in straight sets.
Macalester resumes its schedule on Saturday, Mar. 8 with a non-conference dual against Luther College. The first matches start at 4:00 p.m. at the Rochester Tennis Connection.
